My son is off to college for his first year with my daughter who is a sophmore. My only son, I thought it would be different! No. Well, different in that he thinks that everything is going to be done for him. Ha! Now he's finding out what the real world is like. I don't know if he likes it or not.
They had band camp for a week before classes were to start. So, we got them up there with the essentials & said we would bring the rest up in a week. Misch says, " I hate it here! It's boring!." Well, all of us told him to give it a chance. Wait until classes start. Plus the fact that the college didn't put him in "his" room because there were football players in it. They told him to stay in the basement with 4 other guys & he could move back up there in "2DAYS!" Are you kidding me?! He was helped by band friends to move into "his room" which was really nice of them. As the week went on, he seemed to enjoy himself alot more. Got to know some people & depended less on his sister, (who he hardly talks to or sees now).
My son, who use to talk to me everyday, now bearly texts me unless he needs something! What happened to him? Money is flowing through his hands like water! Is there a money tree out back that I don't know about? What about a job up there mister? He doesn't have time. Can you beleive it! No time. His sister is a triple major with a minor. She has time for a job & to call me sometimes a few times a day. He is undecided with fewer classes. He doesn't know what he wants & he has NO TIME!!! HELP ME LORD!!! WHERE DID I GO WRONG?
As for books... How can they cost so much? I'm finally done getting all the books that they need. My daughter got some from a friend which cut the cost tremendously. I looked into renting books because, lets face it...who keeps all their books after the class? Granted some books you want to keep, but for the majority you try to sell them. What do you get for them? Next to nothing! So I checked into renting them online. I did alot of searching & comparing. The best deals to me were renting except for one book which I purchased on ebay. If anyone would like the list of sources here it is:
collegebookrenter.com ecampus.com textbooks.com barnesandnoble.com half.com
There are a couple of sites that compare for you: dealoz.com & CheapestTextbooks.com
They list most of the sources for you & some have coupons.
Thought I would help some of you out. Happy book searching!!! Until next time....Babushka Babies I love you!!!

Thanksgiving
How was everyone's Thanksgiving? Our's was fine. We had the turkey & everything that goes with it. Thankful for all that we have. Babushka baby # 2 will be going in to have her baby on Saturday. Can hardly wait! We had some bad news also. My Aunt Mary, who is also my Godmother, had surgery & is now on life support. Wishing I could have had more time to get up there to see her. Busy lives must find time to see the people that we don't see often. She will be in my prayers as always.

Happy Birthday KayBee!!!
Today is my #3 Daughter, (KayBee),'s birthday. Happy Birthday Baby!!! She is home from college to celebrate with us. Yesterday, we went shopping & of course, we went to the bookstore (her fav.). She got alot of good deals. She bought quite a few books, which I'm sure she will share reviews with us. Even daughter #4,(Sasha), got books. She hates to read! Wow! Maybe some of KayBee's influence is rubbing off onto her! Only time will tell.
My youngest, Natalia, got some "rocks", gems, quartz, garnet, jade, amethyst, healing stone, etc. So, I bought a book so we could look up what each "rock" does. It is quite interesting to see the different things that these "rocks" do. Ward off evil, help asthma, give good luck, & so on. My grandson even got a tiger's eye which is suppose to keep him focused. Oh yeah, he also got a dino bone! Well, I guess some research will be taking place in our house starting.....now!!! LOL.
It is time for me to go make Birthday Girl her special meals for the day & especially, her dessert!!! Guess? Homemade Pumpkin pie!
Have a wonderful birthday K! We love you!!!
P.S. Don't forget to blog for me again because it is soooo good!

Thanksgiving is in less than 2 weeks! Can you believe it? Are you ready? I'm not, but my daughter is ready to have her baby & I guess I'm trying to work Thanksgiving, waiting for the baby, making gifts, and everything else together. I started making my list for Thanksgiving. I know I will have everything done because I do every year. It's just trying to get my kids to pitch in. Yeah, right! Boy, when everything is done, yum! Noone wants to do the work though. I told them, I'm not getting any younger & I can't do it all myself like I use to. They tell me, "you're not old!" Don't try buttering me up. I know my Kaybee & Natalia will help, but my only son Mischa & daughter #4 Sasha (I call them the twins because they act almost the same) will take their good ole time doing things.
I like to "fall clean" before Thanksgiving. Decorating comes next, then baking & cooking. I invited the family here this year. My sister has fallen upon hard times & won't be able to join us, but my mother & I are going to send her something special. Kaybee who is in college may bring home an international student from Ireland. This would be very special since my daughter speaks some gaelic & my hubby is part Irish. Learning traditions from someone from another country would be very interesting especially for the children, to see how everyone is different in some ways & the same in others. She seems to have fit right in with all the college kids & I hope that if she does come to our home that she will feel right at home.
How do you celebrate Thanksgiving? Or do you have anything like Thanksgiving where you live? Tell us because we are very interested in knowing. Back to my cleaning & list making!

Stress relief #1-Knitting!
When I get really stressed, I try to calm down to a point that I can do some knitting. You can't knit when you are "really" stressed because all you will be doing is "tink-ing". Unknitting, knit spelled backwards is tink, which is no fun at all & will only make you more stressed. So, you are defeating the purpose. I usually have 4-5 things on my needles at once to keep things interesting. My #4 daughter, (Patty), is due to have a baby any day now. I made a baby sweater in baby blue with airplane buttons (because "daddy" likes airplanes), & a cabled hat in the same yarn to match. I found a bib with the exact color airplane as the buttons I put on the sweater. What are the chances of that happening again? I gave the set to her already & hope that I can get a pic of it so I can put it on here for all of you to see.
I am making a blanket to go with the baby's set. I also started a white set & blanket for the baby's christening. All this and I'm thinking about everything I have to make for Christmas gifts. A ton of things! Of course, everyone wants me to make things for them to give their friends, teachers, extended families, etc. I better get busy with "my list"!
