Thanksgiving

How was everyone's Thanksgiving? Our's was fine. We had the turkey & everything that goes with it. Thankful for all that we have. Babushka baby # 2 will be going in to have her baby on Saturday. Can hardly wait! We had some bad news also. My Aunt Mary, who is also my Godmother, had surgery & is now on life support. Wishing I could have had more time to get up there to see her. Busy lives must find time to see the people that we don't see often. She will be in my prayers as always.

Where to Start?

Hey, this is one of the many Babushka Babies, Natalia. I believe my mother has mentioned me before as daughter #5. So, on my way in from recess, my friend Ashley told me how she gets her hair soft. She said, she puts conditioner in her hair for 5 min. and washes it out. After she dries off, she blow dries her hair. That's how she gets her hair so soft. My best Mt. Vernon friend Madison, who has every pet-a-tood in the world, well almost every one, sits across from me in two classes. She makes me laugh. So does Nicole. My best friend's mom from Greenoak is dating this guy. His father died on Friday. She was so upset. Everyone tried to comfort her. That's all that happened so far this week. My story will continue....

Happy Birthday KayBee!!!

Today is my #3 Daughter, (KayBee),'s birthday. Happy Birthday Baby!!! She is home from college to celebrate with us. Yesterday, we went shopping & of course, we went to the bookstore (her fav.). She got alot of good deals. She bought quite a few books, which I'm sure she will share reviews with us. Even daughter #4,(Sasha), got books. She hates to read! Wow! Maybe some of KayBee's influence is rubbing off onto her! Only time will tell.

My youngest, Natalia, got some "rocks", gems, quartz, garnet, jade, amethyst, healing stone, etc. So, I bought a book so we could look up what each "rock" does. It is quite interesting to see the different things that these "rocks" do. Ward off evil, help asthma, give good luck, & so on. My grandson even got a tiger's eye which is suppose to keep him focused. Oh yeah, he also got a dino bone! Well, I guess some research will be taking place in our house starting.....now!!! LOL.

It is time for me to go make Birthday Girl her special meals for the day & especially, her dessert!!! Guess? Homemade Pumpkin pie!

Have a wonderful birthday K! We love you!!!
P.S. Don't forget to blog for me again because it is soooo good!

Thanksgiving is in less than 2 weeks! Can you believe it? Are you ready? I'm not, but my daughter is ready to have her baby & I guess I'm trying to work Thanksgiving, waiting for the baby, making gifts, and everything else together. I started making my list for Thanksgiving. I know I will have everything done because I do every year. It's just trying to get my kids to pitch in. Yeah, right! Boy, when everything is done, yum! Noone wants to do the work though. I told them, I'm not getting any younger & I can't do it all myself like I use to. They tell me, "you're not old!" Don't try buttering me up. I know my Kaybee & Natalia will help, but my only son Mischa & daughter #4 Sasha (I call them the twins because they act almost the same) will take their good ole time doing things.

I like to "fall clean" before Thanksgiving. Decorating comes next, then baking & cooking. I invited the family here this year. My sister has fallen upon hard times & won't be able to join us, but my mother & I are going to send her something special. Kaybee who is in college may bring home an international student from Ireland. This would be very special since my daughter speaks some gaelic & my hubby is part Irish. Learning traditions from someone from another country would be very interesting especially for the children, to see how everyone is different in some ways & the same in others. She seems to have fit right in with all the college kids & I hope that if she does come to our home that she will feel right at home.

How do you celebrate Thanksgiving? Or do you have anything like Thanksgiving where you live? Tell us because we are very interested in knowing. Back to my cleaning & list making!

Lauren Cooper, Gabriel Iglesias, and College Difficulties

Hey all!

This is KayBee one of the many Babushka Babies you must hear all about!

Yes, I am the one in college, but for all intents and purposes, I will not disclose exactly where said college is. I will however, discuss the ups and downs of college life and how Lauren Cooper and Gabriel Iglesias have saved my sanity......for now.

First off, you will probably not survive college if you have no sense of humor, no sarcasm, or even a shred of cynicism. It's just not possible! Those skills are vital especially if you have the legendary "roommate from Hell." You also need to have ace communication skills.

Communication comes in handy in every aspect in college; whether it is telling your teachers that you won't be in class because of illness or sports, etc. Do NOT skip, because if you do, you'll probably end up doing yourself more harm than good and your grades will plummet. Also, you might want to make some friends, who can help you out if you do happen to miss for whatever reason.

Comedians like Lauren Cooper and Gabriel Iglesias, aka my comedic heroes, are some really talented and funny actors, whose skits I find to be very stress relieving, because, no matter how mad you are, you just can't help but laugh. But as the ol' cliché goes, "Don't try this at home" or school for that matter. They are professionals in their own right and are there (on YouTube or wherever you can find them on the net) to save people from stress and make our predicaments seem that less horrible.

If you ever get the chance check them out! They give you a more broad line of allusions and inside jokes to make such as "I ain't bovvered!" and "I'm not fat I'm fluffy!" Confused about the five levels of fatness or why Lauren Cooper "ain't bovvered"? Well, only their skits hold the answers, young grasshopper.

As for the legendary "roommate from Hell," I'm sure that we have all heard the stories: they use your stuff without permission, make a mess in your room and don't clean it up, and sometimes go as far as "making out" in your bed instead of theirs or elsewhere. Sadly, even I have not solved this problem yet, but I am currently in the process of figuring out what makes colleges put incompatible roommates together when they know it might cause problems. I might possibly never find an answer to this, but I'll let you know when I figure it out!

Next week or possibly sooner: Good reads, Timetravellers, and Sexy Dino Hunters!

Stress relief #1-Knitting!

When I get really stressed, I try to calm down to a point that I can do some knitting. You can't knit when you are "really" stressed because all you will be doing is "tink-ing". Unknitting, knit spelled backwards is tink, which is no fun at all & will only make you more stressed. So, you are defeating the purpose. I usually have 4-5 things on my needles at once to keep things interesting. My #4 daughter, (Patty), is due to have a baby any day now. I made a baby sweater in baby blue with airplane buttons (because "daddy" likes airplanes), & a cabled hat in the same yarn to match. I found a bib with the exact color airplane as the buttons I put on the sweater. What are the chances of that happening again? I gave the set to her already & hope that I can get a pic of it so I can put it on here for all of you to see.
I am making a blanket to go with the baby's set. I also started a white set & blanket for the baby's christening. All this and I'm thinking about everything I have to make for Christmas gifts. A ton of things! Of course, everyone wants me to make things for them to give their friends, teachers, extended families, etc. I better get busy with "my list"!

Dreams

This is Babushka Baby #5, Sasha. This is my contribution to the blog for the first time. I hope you enjoy it.
Did you ever have one of those dreams where you fall asleep and imagine that you are about to either fall down a flight of stairs or an escalator or even just in mid-air? Then, you wake up and your heart is pounding out of your chest and you think to yourself,"Thank goodness that it was just a dream!!!" After, you lay your head back down and try to fall asleep and it takes you awhile. When you finally fall asleep, you have a nightmare. Well, I tend to have those kinds of dreams every night. I have many scary dreams that you wouldn't believe was possible. I wake up from one dream and go right into a dream that is worse than the one before. Once, I had this dream that zombies were chasing me and my family. We were at a super market, it was night time. Everyone ran into the car and we were trying to get home as quick as possible. Then, when we got home,we all ran into our house and hid. I ran upstairs with my little sister and an air vent appeared. So, I told my lil sister that she and I were going to hide there. Then, I remembered that in my closet there was a way to the attic and if you shut and latched it, all the other five latches were latched, then, no one could get in or out. So, my whole family came and had gorilla glue in their hands. So, we all went into the attic, latched and glued all around the attic entrances. We could hear the zombies coming. They stayed there waiting for us. Then, after what seemed like 3 weeks of waiting, they left and never came back. But..... what we soon found out was..... that we were the only people left in the whole world!!!!!

What next? No, don't answer that!

Well, this has been one busy week! Daughter #1 has a drop in blood pressure which causes me to worry because she is on a certain medication that can cause strokes. So, I tell her to go to the doctor & she says that she will be fine, she just has to sleep. Hubby calls like he always does & I tell him about her. He tells me to tell her to go to the hospital because he works in one & knows alot of doctors. I tell him she says she will be fine, just let her sleep. All this happens while I am with my mother who is diabetic, does not take her medication, forgetful, doesn't wear her glasses, hard of hearing, & pains everywhere. I am also with my daughter (#2) who is due to have a baby any day. We go to the bank, Big Lots, grocery store, & Bob Evans for lunch. we then go to Daughter #2's house to drop off all baggage from the day. Heading home to drop my mother off at her house & hopefully go home myself. Daughter # 3 is in college having issues with scheduling & advisors & calls me in between all that is transpiring during the day. I calmly tell her what she should do & leave the rest up to her. Daughter #1 calls & says that she has to go to the bank & wants me to take her. We hurry to get home. I call to tell her we are 2 minutes away & she says she is on her way there already. Now, I start to worry more because no one is with her. She meets us at home & wants me to go to the store with her, she is driving. Sure, so I can keep an eye on her. We go to the store then to her house & finally "home"! Yay! I always tell my kids to call me when they get home so I know that they got home ok. Soooo.... I have to call everyone to find out if they got home alright. They tell me....oh, I got busy, I forgot.... What is a mother to do? say? Well.....
I make it through the day & all seems to turn out alright. I talk to all my kids & my mother & everything seems ok. Aaaaggghhhh!!! Hubby gets up from the chair & is in agonizing pain! He can't stand, let alone walk. He goes up to bed & takes ibuprofen. He doesn't sleep all night. Tossing & turning. He calls off work & makes an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon for 11:00. We go, thinking the worse case scenario. Well, he has a torn muscle behind his knee, has to stay off of it until Thursday, so that means no work until then. Off to get crutches & drop off doctor excuse for work. Finally, we get to go home, but first drop off script for pain pills. It will be done in an hour! Really? Hubby gets home & suppose to lay with ice under his knee. I get some lunch for him & where is he? Guess? On the computer! "What are you suppose to be doing?" I get a look & half _ _ _ smile. Ok, so here's your food, now get busy...eat...get some ice & lay down.
I forgot my cell because I needed to charge it. I check it & .......you guessed it! Daughters #1,2,&3 have been trying to call me. I had hubby call all of them to let them know that I left my phone home, but I still had calls from them.
So, to make my very long story short.... I am busy up until this very moment that I am blogging here. I can't beleive I got this much time to myself. Now that the grandkids & daughters # 4 & #5 are in here driving me crazy already! I guess it's time to stop for now! Can I go to sleep now??? Guess not.

Obama Care

What will it bring to the healthcare workers...will the insurance companies become more competitive.. or will big government take over everything and run a one system setting..... how will healthcare workers take to regulated salaries and reimbursement for services... will the system thrive... or collapse and if it collapes... what happens to all the displaced healthcare workers... food for thought.
